Social Dance
I took classes in ballroom, salsa, bachata, and country dance, developing my skills as a lead and earning the honor of having a dance move named after me.
Taking part in social dance classes was one of the most enjoyable experiences I’ve had. I immersed myself in three different styles. Ballroom, salsa and bachata, and country dance. And learned how to dance with partners of all skill levels. Dancing became more than just an activity; it was a way to connect with others and have fun. Now, when I’m out with friends, I can jump on the dance floor with confidence, leading any partner no matter how good (or new) they are, because I’ve become a pretty great lead.
One of the biggest influences on my journey was my instructor, John Najel, who made every class both fun and challenging. What made me stand out was the extra effort I put in outside of class. I would go home, watch dance videos, and practice new moves so I could try them out in the next session. That dedication paid off in an unforgettable way when John created a dance move and named it after me. The “QUDSI Move.” Having a move named after me was a proud moment and a reminder that all the extra effort was worth it. Dancing has not only taught me how to move but also how to connect and flow with others, making every social moment on the dance floor an adventure.
