As the founder and president of the news channel at GEMS American Academy, Qatar, I led a talented team in creating engaging news content that connected the entire school community through fun and informative YouTube videos. Our news reached students from third to twelfth grade, keeping everyone in the loop about the latest happenings on campus. We had a full crew, including two lively news hosts, videographers, editors, and even a dedicated team tasked with hunting down the juiciest stories from every corner of the school.
Starting a news channel from scratch came with its fair share of challenges. No one had ever done this before on campus, so I had to navigate uncharted waters to bring the idea to life. But once we got the ball rolling, the videos took off, and suddenly, the news became something students actually wanted to watch. Now that’s saying something. It was not just about reporting facts; it was about delivering stories in a way that entertained and informed simultaneously.
Every week, our team produced engaging news segments, blending creativity with information. Whether it was updates on school events or interviews with teachers, we made sure the videos were as fun as they were informative. Running the news channel gave me the opportunity to learn and lead in ways I never imagined, and it was incredible to see how our videos brought the school community closer together.
